DESOLDERING TECHNIQUES
USE OF COPPER WICK
- Unroll some desoldering braid from its roll.(Optional: If you use unfluxed braid or want to improve the wicking of rosin/no-clean braid, apply more flux to it.)
- place the end of the desoldering braid over the solder joint that you want to desolder.
- Lightly press a hot soldering iron on top of the braid and hold it in place.
- Lift the braid and the solder iron, while the solder is melt.
- Clip the used section of braid off.
USE OF DESOLDERING PUMP
- Melt the solder that you want to remove(You can do this with a soldering iron or with a hot air source)
- Prime the desoldering pump by pressing down on the plunger until it locks into place.
- Place the tip of the desoldering pump as close to the molten solder as possible.
- Press the plunger release button while keeping the tip of the pump in place.
- Repeat the previous steps until all solder is removed from the solder connections of the component.
- Use a pair of pliers to pull the component from the circuit board.
